“Florals? For spring?” Yes girl! and before you finish the phrase with the sarcastic “groundbreaking” like Miranda Priestly, just know one thing. Florals are exactly who they think they are. They are that girl! They have always been that girl and they will always be that girl. No matter the season, the year, or whatever the runways are saying, floral are a classic print that has earned its permanent spot in every wardrobe.

Styling a Floral Print Dress for Spring

If you’re wondering how to style a floral print dress for spring without falling into cliché, here’s where I landed. Floral prints are interpreted differently each season, one season it’s all about minimal floral prints, while specific florals are all the rage the following season. Fashion trends are cyclical that’s why i’m a big believer in wearing whatever you love because it will become “trendy” at one point or the other so stay true to your personal style. The trend for this spring are a big, vibrant standalone floral graphics and an ultra-feminine print that resembles that of a rococo painting. I already own this gorgeous floral print sheath dress which happens to be “trendy, so why not join the fashion fun of the season? Not only am I enamored by the colorful floral print, but it hugs my body in all the best parts.

Why a Faux Fur Bolero Works for Spring Weather

I could have made the floral print of the dress the focal point and worn simple accessories with it, but the pops of yellow within the dress inspired me to take it to another level by styling it with a yellow faux fur bolero and thigh high boots. Spring brings that sneaky transitional weather where a full coat is too much but going without a little something to cover up with is a little too optimistic. A faux fur bolero is the perfect middle ground because its functional in keeping your arms warm. It also adds texture, drama, and personality without taking away from the whole look. It is exactly the kind of spring outfit formula I keep coming back to because it’s a statement piece and problem-solver in one fabulous garment . It actually levels my outfit up! It’s a combination that surprisingly works while keeping you looking cozy and chic at the same time.

Why Yellow and Blue Work Together

As for the color pairing? The yellow against the deep blue and purple of this dress is not an accident. That is intentional as yellow and blue are complementary colors that bring brightness, yet calmness to the outfit. I find that energy the be a great way to enter spring into.

Finishing with Jewelry

Now let’s talk jewelry because even though I kept it simple, they still showed up and showed out! Gold was the only metal for this outfit because of its warmth and how well it ties right into the yellow of the bolero and boots. It adds just enough shine to feel polished without competing with everything else within this outfit. A statement earring like these drop earrings with a delicate gold necklace is a perfect addition to an already bold outfit. That’s exactly how to style a floral print dress from top to bottom, one deliberate choice at a time
